Set in the mid-1960s, THE FEATHERWEIGHT presents a gripping chapter in the true-life story of Italian-American boxer Willie Pep from Connecticut—the winningest fighter of all time. Down and out in his mid-40s and with his personal life in shambles, Willie decides to make a return to the ring, with his young, fourth wife (played by the excellent Cape-bred actress Ruby Wolf) by his side. Filmed with a faux-documentary camera crew, and painstakingly researched and constructed, this first feature by former documentary director Robert Kolodny is a visceral portrait of the discontents of twentieth-century American masculinity, fame and self-perception.
